FPD.DEV Custom Silicone Tuning System

FPD.DEV has decades of hands-on experience selecting, modifying, and tuning optical bonding silicones for real production environments. The old approach of “mixing off ratio” to change hardness, cure speed, or handling behavior is a thing of the past. Today, the better path is to start with the right material family, then tune the formulation around your process, bond-line design, adhesion needs, rework expectations, and production volume.

Whether your process is fully manual, with every step performed by hand, or a highly automated bonding system that requires working life, set time, and cure time measured in low minutes, FPD.DEV can help identify a silicone system that fits. This selector provides a starting point for comparing materials and tuning directions, then FPD.DEV can refine the recommendation through process review, sample builds, and application-specific testing.

Custom Silicone Tuning System

Start with target material behavior. The tool selects the closest starting formulation based on working life, set time, adhesion, and hardness, then suggests up to two similar clear materials. You can manually change the starting formulation after the match is selected. This tool is under development and may produce incorrect results.

1. Select Closest Starting Material

Choose target behavior first. The closest material becomes the Starting Formulation below. This selector is directional only and will improve as more test data is added.

28 / 100
Soft Shore A Rigid
50 / 100
Removable Serviceable Permanent
Below about 25 minutes usually needs automation or very controlled processing.
Set time means carefully movable, not fully cured.

2. Starting Formulation & Tuning Inputs

The matcher will set this to the closest starting formulation. You can still change it manually.
This OPA- hex code describes the approximate selected material and client preferences. Share it with FPD.DEV as a baseline for material development.
Current code updates automatically below.
Normally held at 1.0.

Development note: This tool may produce incorrect results. More materials are being added. The model will improve as real adhesion, durometer, working-life, set-time, heat-cure, cost, availability, MOQ, and full-cure enhancement data are added to the internal material table.
