Reduce front-surface reflections while adding the cover geometry and protection your display needs. Select glass thickness, surface treatment, optical quality and mounting together.

Explore AR and HEA films for reflection control, polarizers and ITO-coated films for the required optical or conductive function. Flexible films such as AR on PET can be laminated with an optically clear pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA).

Film lamination and process choices
OPTICAL COUPLING
Optical bonding joins two rigid surfaces, such as an LCD assembly and cover glass. Compare liquid silicone gel with pre-cured silicone-sheet vacuum/pressure bonding. Optical lamination involves at least one flexible surface, including polarizers, suitable DBEF films, AR films, EMI mesh and ITO films on flexible substrates.

Process development and production transfer
ELECTRICAL INTEGRATION
Develop a conductive display window using ITO and a grounding path integrated with the cover glass and enclosure. Specify transmission, sheet resistance, contacts and the shielding target as part of the complete assembly.

Review perimeter conductive bus bars or wrap connections and enclosure continuity.
THERMAL PERFORMANCE
Add transparent heating where the display must operate in cold conditions. Match the heating area, glass, ITO resistance, edge electrodes, leads and temperature control to the available supply.

Define warm-up requirements, allowable temperature and power before choosing the heater construction.
USER INTERFACE
Choose projected capacitive touch or an IR touch frame around the display. Define the active area, outline, cover glass, controller interface and operating environment; review custom sizes with the complete optical stack.

PASSIVE BACKLIGHT ENHANCEMENTS
Improve the use and distribution of light with prismatic brightness films, reflective polarizers, diffusers and reflectors. Evaluate viewing angle, uniformity, film orientation and the light guide together.

ACTIVE BACKLIGHT ENHANCEMENTS
Develop or upgrade the light source and its drive electronics. Compare retrofit rails, custom LED assemblies and drivers for brightness, dimming, power and thermal requirements, including separate day and NVIS channels where needed.

SPECTRAL CONTROL
Select filters and coatings for the required spectral band. Hot mirrors reject infrared while transmitting visible light; NVIS filter selection is evaluated with the LEDs, backlight and complete display.
