Start with the intended use

Two applications. Different approval paths.

Aircraft & avionics

Tell us the aircraft, display function, certification authority and installation approval basis. We support projects that require a defined certification and qualification path.

For applicable complete displays, discuss TSO/ETSO-C113b for airborne multipurpose electronic displays. Article authorization and aircraft installation approval are separate.

Define applicable RTCA DO-160 environmental test sections and categories. Where software or airborne electronic hardware is in scope, establish DO-178C / DO-254 assurance requirements and levels. Specify NVIS compatibility separately.

Discuss an avionics application ↗

Simulation & training

Tell us whether the display supports a qualified training device, an approved aviation training device, or a simulator used for research and development.

Identify FAA 14 CFR Part 60 FFS/FTD type and level, FAA BATD/AATD approval under AC 61-136B, or the applicable EASA FSTD qualification basis.

Device qualification is assessed at the simulator level. Match the display’s visual performance, interfaces and evidence to your training objective.

Discuss a simulation application ↗

These are requirements to establish for your program, not certification claims for the reference modules. We help define the solution and evidence needed for either application.

A practical development path

Explore. Define. Develop.

01 / EXPLORE

Capture the configuration

Choose a family, review its specifications and use the pilot to capture your configuration and component list. Work with our team to confirm the final design.

02 / DEFINE

Set the requirements

Record aircraft or simulator use, the approval basis, environmental conditions, interfaces, quantity and timing.

03 / DEVELOP

Build the product definition

Refine the CERP BOM against the assigned FPD part numbers, and connect the specification, drawing and verification plan to the selected configuration.

Before you start.

Are these modules certified for aircraft installation?

A reference specification or visualization is not approval evidence. Confirm the selected article’s authorization, applicable qualification evidence and aircraft installation approval with FPD.DEV for your program.

Which sizes can be configured in 3D?

All five families can be explored in the pilot. SQR-4 has its own model; SQR-3, SQR-5, SQR-6 and SQR-7 use representative SQR-4 geometry with their own specifications. SQR-7 uses generic FPD.DEV configuration references. The final panel variation, options and qualification requirements are agreed during review.

What does the component list include?

It records the selected FPD / COLABMO part number and added components, plus application and qualification requirements. SQR-3 through SQR-6 High Bright reference modules include their backlight, driver and bonded AR glass. Confirm the SQR-7 driver, glass and bonding scope with us. Open-cell builds use a different component basis. Part mapping, material quantities and engineering review are needed before manufacture.

Does NVIS mode demonstrate compliance?

No. It illustrates appearance only. Specify the applicable NVIS standard, class/type, installation and required optical measurements with the program.

Let’s define your display.

Bring your application, configuration or early idea. We’ll help establish the next step.
