Backlight Optics / IR Blocking Materials

Family overviewBacklight filmsLEDs & LED railsIR blocking materialsDesign & datasheets

Control the spectrum at the source.

Explore infrared-blocking coatings, polymer films, absorbing glass and formed filters for backlight integration. Chips, strips, caps and filter rails can be developed around selected LEDs and optical paths.

Explore 25 product referencesReview Interest ListMaterials & design guide
IRF items are development references requiring further definition and verification. Select the LED spectrum, filter construction, thickness, angle range, temperature and light sealing together. NVIS Class A/B, output color and finished-display radiance are separate requirements; no material alone establishes compliance.

Add items to your Interest List for application review and quotation. Selection does not confirm stock, price, fit or design release.

Select the filtering method and format.

Specify the source spectrum, useful transmission band, blocking region and physical space before selecting a material.

Coatings and hot mirrors

Develop the filter with the backlight.

Absorbing filters convert rejected optical energy to heat. Reflective coatings and hot mirrors redirect it. In dual-mode backlights, source isolation, light leaks and fluorescence from inactive day LEDs can affect night-mode performance.
